|Do I need the Olympus DSS Player installed?|
|Answer / Solution|
Olympus DSS Player Requirements for the IDC
The InfraWare Dictation Client (IDC) can work with both DSS and DS2 files. The capabilities of the IDC vary depending on whether an Olympus Player is installed and what version.
If no DSS Player is installed
Even without a DSS Player installed, the IDC can retrieve DSS or DS2 audio dictation files from most USB handheld recording devices. It can send them to the InfraWare 360 platform servers and those jobs will be fully supported by the platform. The limitations of the IDC will be:
If the Olympus DSS Player 2002 (Standard or Pro) is installed
With version 2002 of the Olympus Player installed, the IDC will have all the capabilities above (when no player is installed) plus be able to retrieve DSS files from the Olympus DS-330 model recorder.
If the Olympus DSS Player Pro (newly available in 2008) is installed
With the new DSS Player Pro installed, the IDC will have all the functionality described when no player is installed, plus it will handle DSS and DS2 playback and local file conversion to WAV format. Limitations:
Note: Version 2002 of the Olympus Player software may not be compatible with Windows Vista.
