Can I view control characters in the ITC Editor?

Answer / Solution

Control Characters Explained

Summary

Some transcriptionists and editors prefer to view the normally invisible "control characters" that define formatting, such as hard carriage returns.  In the ITC software it is possible to turn on a feature that displays them.

Steps

  • Default Behavior: To specify this as the default behavior in the ITC:
    • Load the ITC Settings (F10 from the main window).
    • On the Editor tab, check the box beside the label: Display Control Characters.

  • Toggle on/off while in a job:  This feature can also be turned off or on "on-the-fly" with Ctrl + Shift + 8, or by selecting the carriage return (pilcrow) icon listed on the Formatting Button Bar on the ITC Editor.
