Editing Proficiency Report Explained

For an explanation on what the parameters for the Editing Proficiency Report mean, see KB709.

Summary

The Editing Proficiency Report includes a summary of productivity with editing as well as key performance indicators, such as Pause% and Synchronization%.  This report can drive additional training and offer instructional opportunities for improvement with editing.

  • Dictation Minutes:  Total First Draft minutes edited for the reporting period.
  • Editing LPH:  Lines per hour for FD jobs.  This line count is based on a 65-character line.
  • Active LPH:  Lines per hour for FD jobs, taking into account Inactive time (no activity in the ITC Editor or any other ITC windows).  This line count is based on a 65-character line.
  • Estimated Active Work Hours:  Estimation of the number of hours actively editing First Draft jobs.
  • Pause%:  Percent of total time spent with a First Draft job open in the Editor in which the MTE was not editing or interacting with the Editor in any way.
  • Edit RT:  Amount of time worked divided by the amount of audio worked for the reporting period.  Pauses over 1 minute are not considered working time.  Ideal value is 2.0 or lower.
  • Open RT:  Editing Time divided by Audio Time.  Open RT does not disregard pause time and is the true time a job was open and active in the Editor.
  • Sync %:  Percentage of time text is synchronized with the audio.  This feature can be toggled on and off in the ITC.  See KB97 for details.
  • Replay % Percentage of audio which is played more than once.  While it is always acceptable to replay the audio if in doubt, a high Replay % can indicate the potential for improvement of work habits by adjusting foot pedal settings for automatic rewind less.
