Why is there a gray area covering my web browser when I log into the Secure Web Portal?

Removing the gray overlay in the Secure Web Portal

Overview

On rare occasions, a large gray area will appear in a user's web browser, covering most or all of the Reports area.  This is caused by a JavaScript error preventing the screen from refreshing correctly.

Solution

Some ways to correct this behavior are:

  • Refreshing your browser by pressing F5
  • Closing out and restarting your browser
  • Check that Java is up-to-date on your system
  • Disabling Scroll Queue by going under Tasks > Change My Preferences, and unchecking the Scroll Queue box
