What is EHR Verified Production (EVP)?

Answer / Solution

EHR Verified Production (EVP)

Summary

EHR Verified Production (EVP) is an optional feature on the InfraWare 360 platform which helps bridge the gap between providing patient documentation and maintaining accurate billing for both staff and clients.  EVP works in all EHR platforms and provides a verifiable line count for all work done in the client’s EHR.

Requirements

  • Administrator login for the InfraWare Management Console (IMC)
  • InfraWare Transcription Client (ITC) Beta version 7.1.1.10 or newer
  • This feature is being tested internally and is not available to all Accounts at this time.

Overview

When a transcriptionist works on a job in the InfraWare Transcription Client (ITC), if the Document Type has been enabled for EHR Verified Production (EVP) (KB945) keystrokes and mouse clicks will be recorded while the MT is working in the EHR and stored along with the job.  These are logged and shown as noted below:

  • At the bottom of the ITC Editor as shown in the screenshot below:
  • When the transcriptionist submits the job as Complete from the ITC those counts are transmitted to the platform and included in the Job Metrics.  The details can be reviewed as part of the Job Metrics in the InfraWare Management Console (IMC) (KB600).
  • If Pay and Billing models have been set up with EVP details this will be reflected when the Billing and Pay reports are run.
  • ITC Job Card for the transcriptionist.

Steps

  • Enable the Document Type for EVP.  See KB945 for details.
  • Define EVP settings on the Pay Model. See KB653 for additional details on Pay Models.  EVP provides a count of total clicks and key presses to an InfraWare pay/billing model, which performs the appropriate calculation for that model.
    • Go to Administration Tab ⇒ Pay Models subtab.
    • Uncheck the box for Do not use EVP Rate.
    • Designate the number of Key Presses and Mouse Clicks.  EVP counts each left or right mouse click as a single click, but this can be modified by altering the pay/billing model appropriately. (For example, if a model defines a line as 40 keypresses, the model could be set to define the mouse click equivalency as 10 clicks.)
    • Click Save.
  • Define EVP settings on the Billing Model (if applicable).  See KB654 for additional details on Billing Models.  EVP provides a count of total clicks and keypresses to an InfraWare pay/billing model, which performs the appropriate calculation for that model.
    • Go to Administration Tab ⇒ Billing Models subtab.
  • Make sure your transcriptionists who will work in a client's EHR are using the latest ITC Beta version 7.1.1.10 or newer.

Notes

  • EVP jobs may also contain Transcribed and First Draft content completed within the ITC Editor itself.  Transcribed and Edited text in the ITC Editor will be counted normally and displayed in Job Metrics.
  • Text Expanders:
    • ITC Quick Type entries are recognized and will be expanded within the linked EHR when using an EVP-enabled Document Type.  The full text of the expanded entry are recorded as individual key presses.
    • Text expanded by a third-party text expander within the EHR is recorded as the actual keys pressed.  For example, "egd" will expand out to "esophagogastroduodenoscopy" as intended by the expander.  EVP will record 3 key presses for "egd".
