What is the purpose of Document Types?

Answer / Solution

Purpose of Document Types Explained

Overview

Document Types (also called work types) provide a structure to define workflow settings, speech recognition parameters and templates.  Authors typically specify a Document Type when submitting a dictation.

Solution

Administrators define Document Types in the InfraWare Management Console (IMC) under the Document Config tab.  Document Categories are used to organize Document Types into groups.  Many Document Categories and Types can be created to suite a facility's needs.  Each can support a unique set of setup parameters to influence workflow steps including queuing order and the need for QA or eSign-off workflow steps.

If an Author fails to specify a Document Type or makes a mistake, a
Transcriptionist can change the Type by changing the Job Properties in the InfraWare Transcription Client (ITC).

  • A detailed white paper outlining the InfraWare implementation of Document Types is here.
